Keep Binny Healthy!

When bad stuff like plastic gets into the Organics cart, the compost made from the contents gets ruined! Let’s keep Binny the Green Organics Cart healthy! Only yard waste and food scraps – raw, cooked or rotten – and food-soiled paper in Binny, please!

What Does NOT Go in the Green Cart?

  • No plastics
  • No dirt or rock
  • Recycling (paper, plastic, glass, metal) goes in the Blue Recycling Cart
  • Plastic items marked “compostable” (bags, cutlery, etc.) are NOT accepted in the Green Organics Cart – our facility cannot process them. Put them in the Gray Garbage Cart.

How to Collect Food Scraps

  • Contact Livermore Sanitation at 925-449-7300 to order a kitchen pail, if you don’t already have one.
  • To cut down on mess, line your food scrap pail with newspaper or paper towels.
  • Don’t want to use a kitchen pail? Simply collect food scraps in a bowl or lidded storage container until your scheduled collection day.
  • Take the collected scraps out to the Green Cart every few days or store the container in the freezer.
