Did you get an “OOPS” postcard?

Don’t worry, mistakes happen! The postcard you received is part of a collaborative effort between Livermore Recycles and Livermore Sanitation to help people sort correctly in an effort to cut down on waste and pollution. using advanced technology to see what people are putting in Binny.  If incorrect items such as plastic bags are found in your cart, an OOPS postcard is created and mailed. The OOPS postcard includes a picture of your cart, pointing out the items that don’t belong.

These efforts are designed to help residents get clear information on correct sorting. Proper sorting saves space in the landfill, reduces pollution, protects workers, and keeps our machinery running smoothly. If an Organics cart has too much of the wrong stuff, the contents may go to the landfill. By putting only the correct stuff in the Organics cart, it gets made into healthy compost. Thank you for doing your part!

The right stuff for the Green Organics Cart is only:

  • Food Scraps – Raw, Cooked or Rotten
  • Food-Soiled Paper
  • Yard Trimmings
